True to the Japanese concept of ‘mottainai’, a feeling of regret or angst when something is put to waste without deriving its value, Japandi Estate places sustainability at the forefront of its operations.
Through our mission of helping others create warm and cozy atmospheres through our curated collections of homewares, we do so without compromising others’ ability to do so. This view and commitment to sustainability is also adopted by our entire supply chain - partners and manufacturers.
Ethical Sourcing and Production
We have carefully partnered with Australian, family-owned businesses who share our commitment to sustainability, fair labour practices, and environmental stewardship. Through close collaboration and transparent communication, we ensure that our products are sourced and produced ethically at every stage of the supply chain, with the majority of the raw materials used across our products (i.e. timber, fabrics) proudly sourced and manufactured in Australia.
Eco-friendly Materials
We work closely with our manufacturers to prioritise the use of eco-friendly materials in our products. From sustainably harvested wood to recycled materials and non-toxic finishes, we insist on materials that minimise environmental impact without compromising quality or aesthetics.
Waste Reduction
Together with our manufacturers, we implement strategies to minimise waste throughout the production process. This includes optimising manufacturing processes to reduce material waste, implementing recycling and composting initiatives in manufacturing facilities, and exploring innovative ways to repurpose or recycle production by-products. By collaborating with our partners, we aim to minimise waste and maximise resource efficiency across our supply chain.
Energy Efficiency
We encourage our manufacturing partners to prioritise energy efficiency and invest in sustainable energy solutions. By adopting energy-efficient practices and technologies, we aim to reduce carbon emissions and minimise our environmental footprint.
Product Longevity and Durability
We collaborate closely with our manufacturers to design products and curated collections that prioritise longevity and durability. By using high-quality materials and craftsmanship, we ensure that our products withstand the test of time and minimise the need for frequent replacements given their timeless design and interchangeability within homes.
Together with our valued partners, we aim to promote a sustainable consumption model by creating products that last for years to come - without compromising on quality and aesthetic.
Continuous Improvement
We believe in continuous improvement and innovation across our supply chain and product design.
We work closely with our partners to identify opportunities for improvement and implement sustainable practices, technologies and solutions across the manufacturing process. Through ongoing collaboration and shared learning, we strive to evolve and adapt to the latest advancements in sustainability, ensuring that our products meet the highest environmental and ethical standards.
Transparency and Accountability
Transparency and accountability are fundamental to our approach to sustainability. We maintain open and honest communication with our manufacturing partners, providing them with clear guidance and expectations regarding our sustainability standards. We conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure compliance with our policies and actively engage with our partners to address any areas for improvement. By working together transparently, we uphold our commitment to sustainability and accountability throughout our supply chain.
